Health
Literacy

The creation of health literate organisations sits firmly within the goals of health psychology.

There are two sides to the coin when it comes to health literacy - how people and communities can access and act on health information and also how health care organisations support those people to make good health decisions.

We specialise in supporting health care organisations to become health literate through training and guiding them through our bespoke Health Literate Organisation accreditation scheme.

Our values

We strongly believe that involving people in the decisions about their health is the best way to ensure long term behaviour change.  As such the way we work is all always collaborative, interactive and engaging.

We also believe that interventions should always be evidence based and theory-led.  Working with Health Psychology Matters Ltd means that you can have the confidence that we will be using tried and tested approaches.

Our favourite quote from years of research and practice is "the single most important intervention is to understand that there is no single most important intervention" (Rutter, 2012).  If there was one simple answer to improving health and wellbeing, somebody would probably have found it by now....

We also consider that the Social Determinants of Health model helps to explain health than just about any other model - so we apply health psychology theory and practice within the context of where people are born, grow, live, work and age.
